WestStar TV Limited launched wireless cable television services in Grand Cayman in 1993, and in the Sister Islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac in 1995. WestStar TV has grown exponentially over the years starting with two broadcast stations, CITN & CTS, and adding the tourist information channel Discover Cayman. WestStar TV strives to produce high-quality local programming for CITN & CTS delivering news, sports, weather, and cultural programming to every home in the Cayman Islands. Our digital cable service brings the world to Cayman with a wide selection of entertainment, news, information, children’s and sports packages.
Intrastructure and Technology
WestStar TV invested in infrastructure, building a hurricane rated facility in 2006 to house all vital operations ensuring minimal damage and disruption in the event of a major storm. In April 2004, WestStar TV upgraded from analogue to digital service which led to the introduction of new cable and music channels. WestStar TV continues to implement new technology and add new services such as high definition television (HDTV) and digital video recorder (DVR) which were introduced in 2009 and 2010.
Customer Care
WestStar TV puts customers first increasing customer care staff and ancillary operations to improve the customer experience. We are dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through excellent customer care and the addition of services.
WestStar TV recognizes the important role businesses play in the community, and supports several non-profit organisations. We provide free service to the Pines Residences, the Sunrise Adult Training Centre, The Lighthouse School, and the Dialysis Unit at Cayman Islands Hospital. WestStar TV is also a major sponsor of The Young Caymanian Leadership Awards, and a gold sponsor in kind of the Cayman Islands 2008 Olympic team. In 2007 we offered the first scholarship for communications recognizing the need to provide training and education opportunities for Caymanians in the communications field. Our goal is to develop and retain valued employees by identifying and training leaders inside and outside of the organization. To that end, WestStar TV has also employed several young Caymanians as interns and trainees in various departments of the organisation.
