General

How do I change my contact information?

You can update your account information by logging into your My WestStar account and clicking on “Update Account Information” under the “Your Account” section. Alternatively, you can email changes to support@weststartv.ky or call Customer Care at 745-5555

I am moving, how do I change my service to another location?

Call Customer Care at 745-5555 so they can assess whether or not you need to take your set-top boxes with you, and make changes to your account as necessary.

How do I sign up for a My WestStar Account?

Call Customer Care at 745-5555 to get your pincode, then click on MyWestStar and enter the last six digits of your account number followed by your pincode.

How can I replace a damaged box?

Call Customer Care at 745-5555 or e-mail support@weststartv.ky to arrange a replacement.

Why do some channels have commercials/programmes in Spanish?

Some of WestStar’s programming providers offer one feed for the Caribbean/Latin America, which is why some commercials are in Spanish.

Once I start e-billing, can I change back to receiving a printed bill in the regular post?

Yes, you can change back to printed bills by contacting Customer Care, and your statement will include the $2 fee for printed bills.

Why does my account sometimes show a late payment when I pay online or through my bank?

It can take a few days for payments to be processed when they are made through banks. To avoid any late fees when paying online or through your bank, be sure to make your payment 3 days before the due date.

Why do I sometimes see “Channel Upgrade” or “Software Update” on my screen?

A Channel Upgrade or Software Update message will be shown when WestStar Engineers have made a change to the system. This does not necessarily mean customers will notice any changes. These are often maintenance updates to our system. If you experience any issues after seeing either of these messages please contact Customer Care.



HD

What is HDTV?

HDTV stands for High Definition Television. HDTV pictures have roughly 4 times the resolution of standard digital cable, making your pictures more lifelike.

What type of equipment do I need at my home for HDTV?

HDTV television sets are necessary to experience true HDTV quality. Without an HDTV capable television you will merely see standard digital pictures.

When will WestStar be adding more HDTV channels?

WestStar is planning to add additional channels to the HDTV lineup as they become available to us.

Can I view all my regular TV channels through the HDTV converter?

Yes. All of WestStar’s channels will be available on the HDTV converter, but only those on the HD Tier will be in HD format.

What does the tech have to do to install HDTV in my home?

The technician will bring all necessary equipment and swap out all the converters in your home with HDTV converters.

What’s the cost of HDTV?

The cost of WestStar’s HDTV Tier is $12 per month, which includes one HDTV box. Additional HDTV converters will be charged at $12 per box per month. There will be an installation fee* for new customers.

Does WestStar supply HDMI cables with the HD converters?

Yes! A four to six foot HDMI cable is included. We also have component cables to supply HD signal to your TV if you are unable to use HDMI.



DVR

What is a DVR?

DVR stands for Digital Video Recorder. The WestStar DVR lets you record any TV programme and watch it at a later time. With DVR you can also rewind and fast-forward live TV, pause a show, or even create your own instant replays or watch TV in slow motion.

What is the difference between DVR and PVR?

There is no difference between a DVR and a PVR. They are the same thing with different names: Digital Video Recorder and Personal Video Recorder.

Will I be able to record more than one programme at a time with my DVR?

Yes, WestStar offers dual-tuner DVRs. Having two tuners allows you to watch one show while you record another or record two shows and watch one of the shows you are recording or a pre-recorded show.

How many hours of programming can I store on my DVR?

In general, you can store up to 125 hours of standard definition programming or up to 42 hours of high definition programming on your DVR, or any combination of both SD and HD programming.

How long can I keep my DVR recordings?

You can keep DVR recordings as long as you want; however, remember that the recording space is limited, so you may need to delete some recorded programmes from time to time in order to make room for new ones.

Can I record a programme in Dolby Digital 5.1?

Yes! As long as the programme is being broadcast in Digital Audio 5.1, the DVR will record the digital audio portion.

Do I automatically get the HD channels when I get a DVR?

WestStar DVR set-top boxes are HD ready, but you still need to subscribe to the service for $12 per month.
